Private John Fairlie, 18th (1st Public Works Pioneers) Battalion, Middlesex Regiment (Killed during the Somme, 30th of July, 1916)
John Fairlie was born around 1880. He married Annie Webb in 1915, and he is already noted as being a soldier. He served in the 18th (1st Public Works Pioneers) Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, attached to the 17th (1st City) Battalion, Manchester Regiment.
He was killed in action on the 30th of July, 1916, not long after the capture of Trônes Wood. He was buried at Thiepval Memorial.
