Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) waist belt buckle (GRV, 1910–1936 pattern), original example of British Army regimental equipment associated with the Honourable Artillery Company.

Manufactured in bi-metal (brass and white metal), this waist belt buckle bears the Royal Cypher of King George V, identifying it as the pattern worn between 1910 and 1936. Designed for use with the regiment’s waist belt, it formed an important part of both ceremonial and service dress, reflecting the long and distinguished history of Britain’s oldest military unit.

The Honourable Artillery Company was established by Royal Charter in 1537 during the reign of Henry VIII, making it the oldest regiment in the British Army. Throughout its history, the HAC has served in a variety of roles, including infantry, artillery, and reconnaissance, while maintaining its unique status as both a reserve regiment and a historic institution within the City of London.

During the reign of George V, the HAC played a significant role in the First World War, raising infantry, artillery, and cavalry units that served with distinction on the Western Front, in the Middle East, and elsewhere. Members of the regiment earned numerous gallantry awards for their service, reinforcing the HAC’s reputation for professionalism and courage. The George V-pattern buckle continued in use throughout much of the inter-war period until the accession of King Edward VIII in 1936.

Waist belt buckles bearing the George V Royal Cypher are particularly desirable to collectors, representing the regiment during one of the most significant periods in its long history. Original examples are valued for their association with the First World War, their quality of manufacture, and their connection to one of Britain’s most prestigious military organisations.

Manufactured in bi-metal (brass and white metal), this example represents an authentic and historically significant piece of Honourable Artillery Company regimental equipment.
