Royal Military College of Canada Cap Badge (Queen’s Crown Pattern), the Canadian military college headdress insignia associated with the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC), established in Kingston, Ontario, in 1876 to provide professional education and military training for officer cadets. The College has a long history of preparing officers for service in the Canadian Armed Forces and its predecessor organisations.
The badge incorporates the College’s distinctive armoured arm holding a sprig of three maple leaves, surmounted by the Queen’s Crown. The armoured arm represents the College’s military purpose, while the maple leaves signify its Canadian identity. The design is associated with the College’s motto, “Truth, Duty, Valour”. The Queen’s Crown identifies this as a pattern associated with the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1952–2022), distinguishing it from earlier King’s Crown examples and subsequent crown-pattern changes. This badge is of interest to collectors of Canadian military insignia, Royal Military College memorabilia and Commonwealth military headdress badges.
