Swedish AK4 Black Bayonet – German-Made, Model 1965. Swedish military knife bayonet designed for use with the 7.62 × 51mm NATO AK4 (Automatkarbin 4) service rifle, the Swedish-produced version of the German Heckler & Koch G3. Adopted during the 1960s, the AK4 bayonet reflects the development of post-war military equipment and Sweden’s adoption of the NATO rifle cartridge. German-made examples were manufactured by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen, West Germany, including a later procurement in 1976.
The bayonet features a single-edged steel blade, a black synthetic grip and a crossguard incorporating the mounting arrangement for attachment to the rifle. The associated black scabbard is designed to accommodate the blade and secure the bayonet when carried. The Model 1965 pattern is recognisable by its compact knife-bayonet profile and grooved grip, drawing on the design characteristics of contemporary military fighting knives. German manufacture makes this example of particular interest to collectors of Swedish military equipment, Cold War bayonets and German-produced military edged weapons.
Dimensions: Approx. 310mm overall; blade approx. 165mm.
Condition: Excellent, with expected age-related wear. The plum-coloured parkerised blade remains clearly visible. The black synthetic grip and scabbard are complete, with the associated green webbing frog.
