Czechoslovakian M1895 Mannlicher bayonet in scabbard, manufactured by Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (OEWG), Steyr. This substantial military bayonet is based on the M1895 pattern originally developed for the Austro-Hungarian M1895 Mannlicher straight-pull service rifle and subsequently encountered in Czechoslovakian service. It is an important example of Central European military edged weaponry and is of particular interest to collectors of Austro-Hungarian, Czechoslovakian and Mannlicher-related militaria.

The bayonet features a long, single-edged blade with a pronounced fuller running along much of its length, giving the weapon a distinctive and functional blade profile. The broad steel crossguard incorporates the muzzle ring for attachment to the rifle, and the hilt is fitted with dark wooden grip scales secured by visible rivets, giving the bayonet a robust appearance. The rounded pommel incorporates the rifle catch for attachment, with the release arrangement positioned for operation when mounting or removing the bayonet.

The accompanying steel scabbard is of the corresponding military pattern, with a steel body, metal throat and belt attachment fitting. Retaining its scabbard, the bayonet presents as a complete example and is particularly suitable for collectors of military bayonets, Austro-Hungarian weapons, Czechoslovakian militaria, First World War equipment, Mannlicher rifles and European military edged weapons.

The OEWG Steyr manufacturer and Czech overstamp markings are an important feature for collectors researching production and manufacturer variations. Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft was a major Central European arms manufacturer, and OEWG-marked M1895 equipment is of considerable historical interest when studying Austro-Hungarian military arms and their subsequent service with successor states.

Dimensions: Approx. 360mm overall; blade approx. 245mm.

Condition: Good, with expected service wear, age-related marks and surface patina. OEWG Steyr manufacturer markings remain identifiable. Complete with scabbard.
