South African Police Medal for Faithful Service, awarded to Constable MP Phala and dated 1980. This named, dated example represents long-service recognition within the South African Police in the late twentieth century. The medal is of interest to collectors of South African police awards, service medals, law enforcement memorabilia and Southern African militaria.
The “Faithful Service” bilingual inscription reflects the award’s purpose of recognising dedicated service within the South African Police. The named recipient, Constable MP Phala, and the 1980 date link the medal to an individual, making it useful for collectors interested in named South African service awards and the history of the country’s police force.
South African Police medals form a specialised area of Commonwealth and southern African medal collecting. This example is suitable for collections of South African police insignia, long-service awards, twentieth-century service medals and named law enforcement decorations.
