BELGIUM DECORATION MILITAIRE – Medal full size – 1st Class with Chevron
This award was established in 1902 as a reward for Non-Commissioned Officers and men of the Army who ‘by their conduct and service have deserved some special distinction’. Their were two classes, the first (with an inverted chevron) for 15 years service, and the second for 10 years service. The 2nd Class could also be conferred for acts of courage and devotion to duty, irrespective of length of service.
Ribbon: 36 mm Red Yellow black multi stripes. Five red eight yellow, five black.
