BELGIUM CROIX de GUERRE 1914-1918 – CROSS full
Established on 25th October 1915. Awarded for courage in war or long service at the front. The letter ‘A’ on the reverse of the cross and on the palmes attached to the ribbon was the monogram of King Albert. The Belgian Lion is sometimes found on the ribbon and may be either Gold, Silver or Bronze. One Silver Lion replacing 5 Bronze Lions. The Bronze Lion was awarded by Royal decree of December 15th 1917 and signified that the wearer had been mentioned in the dispatches of the Belgian Army. In February 1919 the decree was implemented, where one Bronze Palme was awarded for an Army mention, One in Silver replaced five Bronze Palmes.
Ribbon: 36 mm Red with Five narrow Green stripes, three towards centre with one towards each edge.
