Belgian Military Combatant’s Medal (Médaille du Combattant Militaire de la Guerre 1940–1945 or Medaille van de Militaire Strijder 1940–1945), awarded to Belgian soldiers who fought in the Second World War. Instituted in 1967, the decoration was presented to members of the Belgian armed forces who served in combat operations against Axis forces between 1940 and 1945. The cross-shaped bronze medal depicts a Belgian lion on the obverse, and the reverse bears the dates 1940–1945 with a stylised glaive-like sword in between.
