Established on February 16th 1946, this medal was given for service during the Second World War. A number of ribbon decorations were awarded as follows: Lion – Mention in Dispatches not resulting in the award of a Croix De Guerre. Red Cross – Wounds. Bronze Bar – Prisoner of War. Crossed Lightning Bolts – Intelligence Work. Crossed Anchors – Navy. Star – Colonial Troops. Crown – Volunteers. Crossed Sabres – Participation in the Battle of May 1940 or participation in armed resistance or resistance by the press. Elliptical Bars – France 1944, Germany 1944-45, Czech 1945, Ardennes 1944-45. A total of 34 other battle bars.
Ribbon: 36 mm Yellow with two narrow black bars towards each edge, divide bt narrow white.
