10th Princess Mary’s Own Gurkha Rifles uniform button, 23mm size, of the pattern worn between 1949 and 1994, executed in black plastic. This button features the regiment’s recognised device in relief, incorporating the 10th Princess Mary’s Own Gurkha Rifles cap badge design on a striped background, all moulded in a subdued finish consistent with later twentieth-century service dress requirements.
The regiment formed part of the Brigade of Gurkhas, composed of soldiers recruited from Nepal and serving in the British Army. The kukri is the defining symbol of Gurkha units, representing tradition, skill, and martial heritage. Plastic buttons of this type were commonly introduced for lightweight service uniforms, offering durability and practicality in the field.
Manufactured in moulded plastic with a loop shank fitting on the reverse, this example provides a representative piece of modern Gurkha regiment insignia. Buttons from the 10th Gurkha Rifles are collected as examples of British Army history, Gurkha heritage, and late-twentieth-century uniform components.
