17th/21st Lancers & Queen’s Royal Lancers (QRL), produced for wear on service dress and ceremonial uniforms. The 17th/21st Lancers (later the Queen’s Royal Lancers) were formed in 1922 and later amalgamated again with the 16th/5th Queen’s Royal Lancers and the 17th/21st Lancers. Mounted gilt buttons, such as this, were adopted to be worn by officers.
The button features the QRL cap badge design, incorporating the skull and crossed bones. The gilt finish gives a bright, consistent appearance typical of late-20th-century British Army uniform fittings. The reverse is fitted with a fixed shank for sewing to the uniform.
