An original and scarce cap badge of the 7th (Princess Royal’s) Dragoon Guards, worn between 1898 and the 1906 standardisation of cavalry insignia.
Die-struck in white metal, this badge features a lion on its hind legs with a Howe crown in the foreground. A scroll below reads “7th Dragoon Guards”. Fitted to the reverse with its original copper 3 eyed lugs, common in late Victorian cavalry badge design.
This pattern was introduced following the 1898 reforms and remained in use until 1906. The 7th Dragoon Guards later became part of the 4th/7th Dragoon Guards in 1922 following amalgamation.
Condition: Very Good – Detail remains sharp, minor age-related wear, original fittings intact and secure.
Dimensions: Approx. 42mm x 48mm
A genuine and highly desirable example for collectors of British cavalry insignia, Victorian-era military badges, and Dragoon Guards regimental memorabilia.
