British No. 36 Mk. 1 Mills Bomb, dated on the base plate “8, 1918”. Marked on the base plate and lever “Elmbank”
The No. 36 Mk. 1 grenade was introduced in the Great War and remained in use in the British military until 1932. The No 36 grenade featured a traditional cast iron, grooved pineapple design. It had a central striker held by a closed-hand lever and secured by a pin. Upon detonation, the segmented body produced uniform fragments, a characteristic also found in several other grenade types.
Condition: Good, some light rust
