Oval medal suspended from a pair of wings. Obverse shows sovereign’s effigy, the reverse shows Athena Nike seated on an aeroplane, a hawk rising from her right arm above the words ‘FOR COURAGE’, all within a narrow laurel wreath band with ‘1918’ in the top left.
