A genuine Territorial Force Imperial Service Badge, issued to members of the British Territorial Force who volunteered for overseas service in and before World War I. Introduced in 1910, this badge was awarded to those who undertook the Imperial Service Obligation, agreeing to serve abroad in the event of war—something not initially required of Territorial soldiers. They ceased to be issued in 1921 when the Territorial Force was transformed into the Territorial Army (TA).
The badge is manufactured in cupro-nickel and features the crowned raised inscription that reads “FORCE IMPERIAL SERVICE”, surmounted by the King’s Crown. It would have been worn above the right breast pocket of the service dress uniform.
Condition: Very good. Reverse pin fitting is present and functional.
Dimensions: approx. 47mm x 25mm
