An original First World War British No. 5 Mk. I Mills Bomb. The No. 5 was the original Mills pattern grenade introduced in 1915, widely issued to British forces throughout the Great War. This example retains its cast-iron segmented body, base plug, and threaded top plug with lever and pin assembly. Rendered completely inert, with no explosive components.Â
Marked on the base plate “No. 5Â / I / 1916 / W (Presumably John Wilkins, London”.
Condition
Excellent. Grenade body remains in great original condition with visible casting detail and legibly marked base plug. Lever and pin assembly present. All parts are inert and permanently deactivated.
