Restrike of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) cap badge, reproducing the scarce original worn by members of the elite reconnaissance and raiding unit during the Second World War. Formed in 1940 under Major Ralph Bagnold, the LRDG operated deep behind enemy lines in the North African desert, pioneering long-range patrol and intelligence-gathering tactics later adopted by special forces.
This restrike is die-struck in gilding metal, featuring the scorpion emblem above the letters “L.R.D.G.”, symbolising the unit’s stealth, endurance, and desert warfare expertise. This is surrounded by a stippled circlet. The reverse is fitted with the correct two-loop fittings for attachment to a service cap or beret.
