An excellent example of an original Vietnam War-era U.S. M6 bayonet, manufactured by Aerial Cutlery Co., complete with its correct TWB-marked M8A1 scabbard. This bayonet was designed for use with the U.S. M14 rifle, which saw service in the early stages of the Vietnam War before being gradually replaced by the M16.
The M6 bayonet features a parkerised steel blade with a single edge and false edge, total blade length approximately 172mm. The crossguard has a muzzle ring to fit the M14 barrel, and the pommel is fitted with the spring-loaded release mechanism. Stamped on the crossguard is “U.S. M6” and “AERIAL”, denoting the maker—one of the rarer manufacturers of this pattern, as well as a Defence Acceptance Mark. This contract spanned from 1960 to 1961.
Housed in an original M8A1 scabbard, marked “US M8A1 / TWB”, this version features the later web belt hanger with metal reinforcement tip, appropriate for mid-to-late Vietnam War production.
Condition: Excellent, unissued with almost no wear
Length (overall): Approx. 291mm
