PORTUGAL Mod.1885 Guedes and Model 1886 Kropatschek Rifle Bayonet. Steel pommel with coil spring press locking stud, slab wooden grips held by two rivets. Cross-guard with quillon and muzzle ring with quillon, 467 mm Yataghan blade, complete in steel scabbard. Back of blade marked in running script ‘Steyr 1886’ and the bayonet frog stud marked ‘OEWG’. 615mm OALength.
Fair to good condition but as these were latterly sent to the African Colonies, rarely found in very good condition. Slight denting to wooden grips and slight denting to steel scabbard. Mostly polished bright with scabbard showing some original blacking/browning finish.
