ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICER’S SWORD VR by Henry WILKINSON. with nickel plated three-bar hilts, wire bound shark-skin grip, 880 mm slightly curved blade deeply etched ‘Royal Carmarthen Artillery’ with lightening bolts one side, ‘VR’ cipher the other, riccasso etched ‘HENRY WILKINSON PALL MALL LONDON’, and numbered 1 4205, , also carries a family device of a Ducal crown over two reversed’E’s. Complete in brown leather scabbard with nickel plated top mount and chape. ‘Royal Carmarthen Artillery’ were a Militia unit, later becoming Royal Garrison Artillery Militia, and ‘Territorial’ by 1908 and the Great War.

Condition: Very good to Excellent, almost all original etching remains, with traces of previous rust pitting showing along blade edges.
