An original British Army War Service Chevron issued during World War I, awarded for overseas service during the conflict. This distinctive blue enamel chevron stripe, typically worn on the lower right sleeve of the service dress tunic, marked a soldier’s length of active wartime duty.

Introduced in 1917, War Service Stripes were issued retroactively to honour service from 1915 onward. A maximum of four or five chevrons could be worn, depending on duration served. This example is a single blue chevron, denoting one full year of overseas service, and is enamelled on gilding metal with east-west eyed lugs on the reverse.

A must-have for collectors of WWI British Army uniforms, Great War insignia, or for use in accurate re-enactment and restoration projects.

Condition: Very good. Light wear with minor age-related toning.
