Thames Valley Police chrome and enamel helmet plate, Queen Elizabeth II Crown pattern. The Thames Valley Police was formed in 1968 from the amalgamation of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and several smaller forces, becoming one of the largest territorial police forces in England.

The badge is of chromed metal construction in the form of an eight-pointed starburst plate, with a central blue enamel circlet inscribed Thames Valley Police. At the centre sits the force crest, surmounted by the Queen’s Crown. This type was worn on the traditional custodian helmet by constables and sergeants during the late 20th century. Reverse retains original blade fixings for helmet attachment.
