Inert (completely deactivated) grenades and drill-purpose ammunition are legal to own in the UK as collectibles. All items in this category have been fully deactivated and contain no explosive or propellant material. They are sold strictly as display and educational pieces.

What does inert mean for militaria?

Inert means the item has been permanently rendered safe and non-functional. For grenades, this means the fuse mechanism is disabled and the body is drilled or otherwise modified. For ammunition, cartridges are empty cases or drill rounds with no primer, propellant, or projectile.
