13th (Kensington) London Regiment cap badge, original example of British Army headdress insignia associated with the 13th (Kensington) Battalion, London Regiment. This distinguished Territorial Force unit formed part of the London Regiment and drew its recruits primarily from the Kensington area of London.

The badge features the battalion’s distinctive insignia in relief, incorporating heraldic elements associated with the Royal Borough of Kensington and the traditions of the London Regiment. The design reflects the strong local identity of the battalion and its close connection to the communities from which it recruited.

Cap badges of this type were worn on military headwear by officers and other ranks, serving as a visible symbol of battalion affiliation and esprit de corps. The 13th (Kensington) Battalion was a Territorial Force unit and played an important role in Britain’s reserve military structure during the early 20th century.

Upon the outbreak of the First World War, the battalion was mobilised for active service and saw extensive action on the Western Front. The unit earned a distinguished reputation during the conflict, participating in many of the major campaigns and battles fought by British forces. Insignia associated with London Regiment battalions remains highly sought after due to the regiment’s unique structure and strong local identities.

Manufactured in metal with original attachment fittings to the reverse, this example represents an authentic and collectable piece of First World War-era Territorial Force history.
