1914-15 Star, Private George Saxby, 6th (Service) King’s Own Scottish Borderers
Born 26th December 1894 or 1893 and lived in Grays, Essex at the point of enlistment. Embarked to the theatre of France on the 11th of June 1915 under the 6th (Labour/Service Corps) King’s Own Border Regiment. Admitted to 4th Stationary Hospital, near St. Omer for “gunshot wound right bullock” sustained on the 27th September 1915 (possibly during the battle of Loos) and sent home on the 1st of October 1915.
Returned to France on the 22nd of June 1916, went back and forth between France and home before being wounded in action on the 31st July 1917 under the 7/8 battalion KOSB (possibly during the Battle of Pilckem Ridge) and sent back to the depot.
Transferred between the 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 7/8 battalion as well as attached to the ASC Motor Transport until determined medically unfit to serve on the 2nd Oct 1918 and served under the 389 (HSE) Company until discharged on the 26th March 1919
