A fine 25mm gilt officer’s tunic button from the 24th Punjabis, worn during the period 1901–1922, before the regiment became part of the 14th Punjab Regiment in the great post–WWI reorganisation of the Indian Army. Officer buttons from this unit are sought after for the regiment’s distinguished service and the relatively short time this pattern was in use.

Description

This officer-grade tunic button features:

  • A crisply defined King’s Crown and the numeral “24”

  • Gilt brass construction, as expected for officer accoutrements.

  • Reverse side fitted with a sturdy fixed shank, often accompanied by a British maker’s mark (if present).

Dimensions

  • Diameter: 25 mm

  • Material: Gilt brass

  • Fixing: Fixed shank

Condition

Good. Some noticeable wear to the gilt finish. Fine definition across the crown and numerals.
