4th Canadian Mounted Rifles Regiment button brooch, associated with a Canadian mounted infantry unit that served during the First World War. The 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles were raised in 1914 and served overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, taking part in operations on the Western Front. The regiment was subsequently reorganised, with its personnel contributing to the Canadian Corps’ mounted and infantry formations during the conflict.
The brooch incorporates a regimental button adapted for use as a personal or commemorative accessory. The original button design identifies the unit and reflects the uniform insignia worn by Canadian mounted troops during the early twentieth century. Items of this type are of interest to collectors of Canadian Expeditionary Force memorabilia, First World War regimental buttons and Canadian military keepsakes.
