Army Service Corps cap badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn circa 1888 to 1901 by the Army Service Corps of the British Army. This British Army corps cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the unit in clear relief, incorporating the initials of the regimental title “ASC” with the Royal motto in a circlet as the central device, supported by a starburst and surmounted by the Victorian Crown.
The Army Service Corps was responsible for transport, supply, and logistical support across the British Army, playing a vital role in sustaining operations both at home and overseas during the height of the British Empire. This pattern of badge reflects the corps’ importance during the late nineteenth century, including service in colonial campaigns leading up to the turn of the century.
Manufactured in brass consistent with service dress wear, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the original Victorian period pattern. Army Service Corps cap badges are collected as examples of British Army corps militaria, logistics and support unit insignia, and historic uniform hardware.
