Original Air Raid Precautions (ARP) School Instructor enamel lapel badge, issued around 1939 and early 1940s to qualified civilian instructors responsible for training volunteers in air raid safety, first aid, and civil defence procedures during the Second World War and immediately after.
The badge is of high-quality gilt metal construction with red and blue enamel detailing. The circlet reads “ARPS / Civil Defence” with a central “Instructor”. The reverse bears a maker’s mark “HWM Ltd (H.W. Miller Ltd) and is fitted with the correct horizontal broach lapel fitting typical of period manufacture.

Excellent. Enamel is in pristine condition. The text on the obverse and maker’s markings on the reverse are easily legible.
