Band of the King’s Division cap badge in silvered and gilt metal with enamel detailing, produced in the Queen’s Crown pattern, worn from 1994 until 2022 by members of the Band of the King’s Division of the British Army. This British Army divisional band cap badge displays the recognised King’s Division device in clear relief, incorporating a Tudor rose as the central device with white enamel outer petals and a red enamel inner rose at the centre, surmounted by a Queen’s Crown in gilt metal at the topmost point, with a scroll wrapping around the lower portion of the rose inscribed “THE KING’S DIVISION” in raised lettering. The enamelled Tudor rose distinguishes the band badge from the plain metal headdress badges worn by the regimental battalions of the King’s Division, reflecting the more formal and ceremonial character of the divisional band’s dress uniform requirements.

The King’s Division is a British Army administrative and recruiting division formed on 6 July 1948 and reconstituted in its current form on 1 July 1968 through the union of the Lancastrian Brigade, the Yorkshire Brigade, and the North Midland Brigade, and from 2017 additionally incorporating the Mercian Regiment. The Tudor rose was adopted as the King’s Division badge device in recognition of the division’s geographical association with the English counties of the North and Midlands. The Band of the King’s Division was formed in 1994 and serves as the principal regular army band supporting all regimental and divisional ceremonial functions within the King’s Division. The Queen’s Crown surmounting the badge was used previously to the accession of King Charles III in September 2022.

Manufactured in silvered and gilt metal with white and red enamel detailing to the Tudor rose, this badge provides a well-defined representation of the current divisional band headdress badge as worn from 2022. Band of the King’s Division King’s Crown enamelled cap badges are collected as examples of contemporary British Army divisional band insignia, ceremonial headdress badges of the King’s Division, and current production militaria of the northern English regimental tradition.
