An original British 1853 Pattern socket bayonet, manufactured for use with the .577 calibre Enfield rifle. Introduced in the mid-19th century, this pattern features a triangular-section fullered blade with crisp shoulders and a straight profile, designed for durability in service. The socket includes a locking ring mechanism to secure the bayonet over the rifle muzzle. This example is unmarked and conforms to the regulation dimensions for the pattern.

Dimensions

Overall length: approx. 21.25 inches (54cm)

Blade length: approx. 18.5 inches (47cm)

Socket length: approx. 3 inches (7.6cm)
