This brass button was worn by members of the British Central Africa Police, the security force established in the British Central Africa Protectorate—now Malawi—during the late Victorian period. The design features the Queen Victoria Crown, consistent with uniform insignia used before 1901, and reflects the early administrative and policing structures of the Protectorate.

Physical Description
Brass button displaying the Queen Victoria Crown above the Royal Coat of Arms, with the circlet reading: “BRITISH CENTRAL AFRICA POLICE”. The detailing remains clear, and the face shows a natural patina developed over time. The reverse includes its original loose shank, with a period backmark where applicable.
Condition
Good, lightly aged condition, with a stable patina and detail to the crown and central device. The shank is intact and secure.
