Connaught Rangers cap badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn between 1901 and 1922 by the Connaught Rangers of the British Army. This British Army Irish infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the harp of Ireland as the central device surmounted by the King’s Crown, with a scroll beneath bearing the regimental title “Connaught Rangers,” arranged in a composition characteristic of early twentieth-century British Army headdress insignia.
The harp reflects the regiment’s Irish heritage and long association with the province of Connacht. The badge was worn during the Edwardian period and throughout the First World War, prior to the regiment’s disbandment in 1922 following the establishment of the Irish Free State.
Manufactured in brass consistent with service dress wear, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the traditional regimental pattern. Connaught Rangers cap badges are collected as examples of Irish regimental militaria, First World War British Army insignia, and historic uniform hardware.
