An original and scarce example of the Devonshire Regiment cap badge, worn during the late Victorian period before 1901.
Die-struck in bimetal, this pre-1901 pattern features a central heraldic castle and garter reading “The Devonshire Regiment”  and surmounted by the Victorian Crown (VR), all in brass with an 8-pointed white metal star in the background.  Fitted to the reverse with original east–west copper lugs, typical of Victorian-era manufacture.

This badge would have been worn during the late 19th century, including service in colonial conflicts and the early stages of the Second Boer War. It was replaced after 1901 with the King’s Crown variant following the death of Queen Victoria.

Condition: Very Good – good detail, with age-related patina, original lugs intact and secure.
Dimensions: Approx. 43mm x 42mm
