Divisional Cyclist Companies, Army Cyclist Corps brass shoulder title bearing the designation “T / CYCLIST,” produced for wear during the First World War. This British Army Territorial Force shoulder title reflects the organisation of Divisional Cyclist Companies formed to provide reconnaissance, dispatch riding, and communication duties in support of infantry formations. The straightforward linear format, with “T” denoting Territorial service above “CYCLIST,” is consistent with other WW1 brass shoulder titles worn on service dress tunics.
Manufactured in brass with a service finish appropriate to wartime production and maker-marked “J. R. Gaunt, London” on the reverse, this original example represents a genuine First World War period insignia item rather than a later restrike. Divisional Cyclist Companies’ shoulder titles are collected as examples of WW1 British Army militaria, Territorial Force insignia, and specialist corps uniform components associated with the Army Cyclist Corps. The reverse is fitted with original lug fittings for secure attachment to shoulder straps.
