Officer’s uniform button of the Essex Regiment, produced to the pattern introduced following the 1902 Army reforms and remaining in use until the late 1950s. The button is of officer quality, manufactured in gilt metal and die-struck with fine detail. It bears the Essex Regiment insignia, incorporating the regimental Salamanca eagle and castle within a wreath. The reverse is fitted with a fixed shank for attachment to uniform garments.
