The Life Guards cap badge, produced as a restrike of the ERVIII cypher pattern worn during the brief reign of King Edward VIII in 1936. This British Army Household Cavalry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the Life Guards in clear relief, incorporating the crowned ERVIII royal cypher as the central device, arranged in a formal composition characteristic of Household Division headdress insignia of the inter-war period. The design reflects the regiment’s position within the senior regiment of the Household Cavalry and its close association with the Sovereign during one of the shortest reigns in British history.
Manufactured in a brass finish consistent with full dress and service dress wear, this restrike example offers a sharply defined representation of the original 1936 pattern. Life Guards ERVIII cap badges are collected as examples of British Army militaria, Household Cavalry insignia, and rare Edward VIII royal cypher regimental badges, particularly given the limited period of authorised wear. The reverse is fitted with standard lug fittings for secure attachment to a cap
