Mod’ 1874 GRAS BAYONET St.Etienne Mars 1875
Brass mounted hilt with shaped walnut grips held by two steel rivets. Steel crosguard with swept forward curved quillon, 522mm ‘T’ shaped steel blade dated roler impressed ‘Mre d’Armes de St.Etienne Marz 1875’. Complete in blacked steel tapered scabbard, with ball end finial. Designed for Model 1874 11mm Grasse rifle, but also fits 1866 Chassepot Needle-fire rifle, and also the 1874 Centre-fire conversions of the Needle-fire rifle. Condition: excellent, much original finish. but some light wear to bluing on scabbard.
