French M1892 Mannlicher-Berthier Artillery Carbine Bayonet in scabbard.

FRANCE Mod.1892 MANNLICHER-BERTHIER Artillery and Mounted Troops Carbine Bayonet in scabbard. Steel pommel holding bayonet locking catch, steel cross-guard with full length muzzle-ring and Full length swept forward quillon. 40 cm Steel blade with single fuller, point with deep ‘v’ shaped machined trough from point, wood grips held by round flush rivets, complete in blued steel scabbard. This is a second pattern bayonet, as the very early manufactured examples have the Manufacturers detail in rolled running scrip along the blade back, as a Chassepot and Grasse bayonet would have. This one is plain, ricasso stamped ‘J G’ within double circles. All metalwork dull polished steel, excepting the scabbard. Generally good to very good condition, and not a common bayonet.
