Detachable box magazine designed for use with the Austrian-designed MP34 submachine gun, chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum. This 32-round magazine is of straight, box-form construction, manufactured from blued steel, with a removable base plate and internal spring and follower assembly. This example bears a Waffenamt stamp marking and what is presumably a manufacturer trademark.
The MP34, originally developed by Steyr and later produced under German control during the Second World War, utilised high-quality machined components, and its magazines reflected this standard of manufacture. The magazine body is usually of robust steel construction with numbered witness holes to indicate cartridge count.
Magazines of this type were issued as standard equipment for MP34 submachine guns, which saw service with German police units, Waffen-SS formations, and other forces, as well as earlier use by Austrian and export customers. Their solid construction and relatively limited production compared to later wartime designs make them of interest for study and collection.
