Grenadier Guards anodised button (ERII, 1953–2022 pattern), 26mm example of British Army uniform insignia associated with the Grenadier Guards. This pattern dates to the reign of Elizabeth II and remained in use from her accession in 1953 until the transition to the King’s Crown in 2022.

The button design features the regiment’s distinctive royal cypher and flaming grenade in relief beneath the Queen’s crown, reflecting the ceremonial and operational traditions of one of the senior regiments of the Household Division. The anodised aluminium finish, commonly referred to as “staybrite”, provides a bright appearance while reducing the need for regular polishing and maintenance compared with earlier brass examples.

Buttons of this type were worn on service dress and other uniform garments by personnel of the Grenadier Guards, serving both a practical fastening role and as a visible indicator of regimental affiliation. The 26mm size corresponds to use on tunics and outer garments where larger buttons were required.

The Grenadier Guards trace their origins to the 17th century and have served in major campaigns throughout British military history while maintaining a prominent ceremonial role in state occasions and public duties. The Queen’s Crown insignia from the 1953–2022 period reflects one of the longest continuous uniform eras in British military history.

Manufactured in anodised metal with a shank fitting to the reverse, this example represents a classic piece of modern British regimental insignia suitable for display or collection.
