This is a curved brass shoulder title of the Herefordshire Light Infantry, produced to the 1908–1967 pattern bearing the abbreviated title “HEREFORD”. Introduced following the establishment of the Territorial Force in 1908, this shoulder title was worn on service dress and battledress uniforms throughout the First World War, the inter-war years, and into the post-war period until the regiment’s eventual amalgamation. The simple curved form is typical of Territorial infantry titles of the period.
Manufactured in brass, the title is die-stamped with clean, legible lettering and formed with a gentle curve to sit correctly on the shoulder strap. The reverse is fitted with original-style lugs for attachment.
These would have been worn with a “T” (Territorial) or “1” (1st Battalion, The Herefordshire Regiment)
Dimensions
Approx. 48mm x 21mm
Condition
Very good, with an even-aged patina and clear lettering. The lugs are intact and secure, and the piece shows only light wear consistent with period use.
