Original US Model 1917 bayonet, manufactured by Remington and dated 1917, complete with an original WW2-era scabbard and Home Guard issue frog. This bayonet was originally produced for the U.S. Army during World War I and later widely reissued during the Second World War, notably seeing service with the British Home Guard due to equipment shortages in the early war years.
The M1917 bayonet was designed for use with the US M1917 Enfield rifle, a close relative of the British P14 rifle, which was perfectly suited for British use during the Second World War. Thousands were supplied under Lend-Lease or acquired through other wartime aid programmes.
The ricasso bears a Remington stamp and a clear 1917 date on one side and U.S. ordnance markings on the other. Complete with steel-mounted leather scabbard. The grips are grooved wood with two screw bolts..
Condition: Good. Blade shows some surface rust. Grips are intact with light wear and some rust on the bolts and pommel. Scabbard shows age-related wear but remains solid and functional. The frog is in poor condition with various of splits and damage as well as the top securing loop being split in two.
