King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry cap badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn between 1950 and 1968 by the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry of the British Army. This British Army light infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the bugle horn as the central device, a traditional symbol associated with light infantry units, with the White Rose of York in the loop of the bugle.
The bugle horn emblem reflects the regiment’s light infantry heritage, recalling the historical use of the bugle for battlefield communication and manoeuvre. The badge was worn during the post-war period until the regiment was amalgamated with the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry, the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry and the Durham Light Infantry to form The Light Infantry in 1968.
Manufactured in white metal, consistent with service dress wear, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the traditional regimental pattern.
