Original Middlesex Regiment (Pre-1902 Pattern) curved brass shoulder title, worn by members of the regiment before the introduction of the less curved design of shoulder titles, generally adopted around 1902. This early pattern represents the late Victorian period, which would’ve likely been worn during the Middlesex Regiment’s service in India and South Africa during the Boer War.

Constructed from die-stamped brass, the title follows the curved, semi-circular single-line format, reading “MIDDLESEX”, with two integral brass loops to the reverse for attachment to the shoulder strap of the tunic. Early production examples such as this are characteristic of the late 19th-century British Army style.
