MILITARY CROSS GRI – First type 1937-47
The Military Cross (MC) is a British military decoration awarded to officers and, occasionally, other ranks for acts of exceptional gallantry and distinguished service in the face of the enemy. Established in 1914 during World War I, the silver cross is suspended by a purple ribbon and bears the royal cypher of the reigning monarch at the time of the award. Given for bravery in action on land, the Military Cross is a prestigious honour recognizing individuals for their courage and devotion to duty in the heat of battle, contributing to the rich tradition of military valour within the British Armed Forces.
