An original Mobile Defence Corps (MDC) Officer’s cap badge, worn between 1955 and 1959 during the unit’s short operational period. Struck with a gilt and silver-plate finish, the badge features an eagle with wings spread, superimposed with crossed swords. The Queen’s Crown (ERII) surmounts the emblem.
The Mobile Defence Corps was formed in the mid-1950s to provide nuclear-era homeland defence, including guarding key installations and assisting in civil emergencies. The Corps was disbanded in 1959
Ideal for collectors of Cold War British Army insignia, post-WWII cap badges, or specialists in nuclear-era military history.
Condition: Good. Gilt finish largely intact with some wear from age. Lugs present and complete on reverse.
