NATO Kosovo Medal in miniature, awarded to recognise qualifying service in NATO-led operations in Kosovo and the surrounding theatre during the conflict and subsequent peace-support mission. The medal was introduced in connection with NATO operations in the Balkans, with the Kosovo version established in 1998. NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) deployed in June 1999 to help establish and maintain a secure environment following the conflict.
The circular bronze medal features the NATO star set within a wreath of olive leaves on the obverse. The reverse bears the organisation’s title and the inscription “In the Service of Peace and Freedom” in English and French. The dark blue ribbon incorporates white stripes and is issued with a clasp inscribed “KOSOVO”. This miniature version is intended for wear with miniature medal groups and appeals to collectors of NATO campaign medals, modern British and Commonwealth service awards, and Kosovo conflict memorabilia.
