An original bronze collar badge for the Navy, Army & Air Force Institutes (NAAFI), worn by civilian staff serving British Armed Forces personnel in the UK and abroad. Dating from the interwar period to World War II, this badge was worn on the lapel or collar by uniformed NAAFI personnel, who provided vital services such as canteens, shops, and welfare facilities.
The badge features “Navy, Army & Air Force Institutes” in a circlet, within is an anchor, laurel wreath and wings, surmounted by the King’s Crown (either Tudor or Imperial). It is die-struck in bronze, reflecting the civilian but uniformed nature of the organisation’s staff, who often accompanied military units into operational areas.
Fitted to the reverse with two original copper lugs (loops).
